What is a Domain Name?

A Domain Name is a unique name that is the basis for a company identity on the Internet/Web. This name can be used for email, World Wide Web Sites and FTP (file transfer protocol). Each domain name can be used by only one organization. Once a domain is taken it is taken for good.

Used in an email address it could be used as follows:

Etc.....

Used to locate your web site in the form of:

http://www.yourcompany.com

Why should I register my domain name now?

If you do not register your Domain Name now it may not be available by the time you NEED it. The Internic assigns names on a First Come First Served Basis. Domain Names are being registered in phenomenal numbers right now. There are even companies out there who do nothing but register Domain Names so that they can sell them later when people who never registered are in need. It is already getting hard to register any popular name at all.

How long will it take for my registration?

It usually takes 24 hours during the week.

Can I register my Domain Name now even if I am not ready to use it?

Yes! Technically you need somewhere to "park" the domain. Basically a server that the domain is "pointing" to. We will point this domain to our Name Servers until you are ready to use them. Once you are ready to use the domain, you can either use one of our "Virtual Servers" or have us point your domain to the hosting provider of your choice.

What are my total costs for registering a domain name?

Your total costs for registering a domain name are the $70.00 Internic fee for two years of domain name ownership. These are the only fees billed to your credit card. After two years you will be invoiced for a $35.00 per year renewal fee if you want to keep using the domain name.

If it says there is No match for my domain name when I do a search, does this mean my name if definitely still available?

Most likely yes. Our domain search engine searches Internic's Whois database directly so it is as up to date as it can be, real time. It is possible, though, that another party may have submitted your chosen domain name before your registration was submitted. It does take up to a few days for the database to be updated so this is an extreme possibility.
